Sony announced today that it plans to acquire Ericsson's share of Sony Ericsson.  With this, Sony Ericsson will become a  wholly owned subsidiary of Sony and  integrated  into Sony’s platform of network-connected consumer electronics.  Ericsson will receive EUR 1.05 billion cash payment.  Lastly, Sony announced plans to create a "wireless connectivity initiative" with Sony Ericsson to drive connectivity across multiple platforms.
